This past weekend, I had the honor of celebrating the grand opening of Apt105 Books, the first mobile bookstore in the DMV. A moment that felt bigger than books. It was a celebration of community, representation, and the power of Black stories.

I was grateful to stand alongside five incredibly talented Black women authors, each of us sharing our work with readers and witnessing history being made together. There's something special about being in a space where our voices are not only welcomed but intentionally centered.

To Jayla, congratulations on this incredible accomplishment. Your vision, courage, and commitment to amplifying Black voices are creating opportunities for authors and readers alike. Thank you for building a space where our stories can travel, connect, and inspire.

Moments like these remind me why I write. Books have the power to heal, educate, and bring people together, and seeing our community show up in support of Black literature was truly heartwarming.

I'm thankful to have been a small part of such a momentous occasion, and I can't wait to see the impact Apt105 Books continues to make throughout the DMV and beyond.
